Steven is a traveling teaching artist, director, story teller and workshop facilitator most interested in the interconnected nature of body, breath, mind and the creative process, as well as the artists and performers that practice these activities as a means to create. He is a process driven director working with themes of social justice and the rejection of societal norms. As a teaching artist, he is passionate about guiding artists and creatives to a mindful, expressive, balanced, centered, open, intentional (and dare he say mystical) creative process as well as a holistic and sustainable way of life the fosters wellness and self awareness. He believes that the creative process is nothing short of a cosmic work of beauty and sees it as his purpose to share ecstatically with artists and performers of all kinds as we mutually navigate the "world of the play" as well as "the play of life. He is a tiny home living, handlebar mustache wearing, vegan, minimalist, and for a long time was not aware he was a hipster. He left social media in 2017 as its intention to profit off of mindlessness and misery of its users does not align with Steven's values, instead he seeks to focus of fostering community and collaboration through authentic relating and genuine relationship building. As an advocate and ally, Steven works in Theatre of the Oppressed, and actively volunteers his skills and or artistry for the Eastern Farm Workers Association, and local Black Lives Matters activities. He is a fervent LGBTQIAPK+ activist and stands in solidarity with the The Standing Rock Sioux as well as Native and Indigenous peoples the world over. He is currently seeking to find ways to subvert the authoritative systems and status quo through creative problem solving, gift economy and genuine interactions with others. Have a crazy idea?
